So often people that workout avoid real squats and/or….deadifts. Deadlifts are one of the most effective exercises on the planet. Why? It’s simple….deadlifts are known as multi-joint or compound movement which simply means you use multiple muscles in the this one exercise. It’s a long a Bang for Your Buck! Here’s the short list: Upper back, Lower back, Forearms, Hamstrings, Core, Grip Strength, Glutes, and Shoulders. Wow! All that in one Awesome Exercise! Now, its very important to learn how to execute a Deadlift properly and there are many variations especially for teaching a beginner. There are Kettlebell Front Deadlifts, Suitcase Deadlifts, Trap Bar Deadlifts, Straight Bar Deadlifts. These are the most common. Definitely meet with a Personal Trainer to assess you first as deadlifts aren’t for every Body (Get it?). Assessing your body first is critical as its important to see if there are any weak links in your kinetic chain and if there is any excess tightness or lack of mobility.
Once someone is assessed, you must start slowly and with light weights until proper biomechanics are achieved. Then, the client can be advanced from that progression.
Also, the benefits of deadlifts are achieving a really strong body! Plus, it boosts your testosterone and HGH levels Too!
So, get a trainer and do some deadlifts! Mark Hill, Owner, Lifestyles Fitness Personal Training Tempe, AZ
